Answer

All perfect praise be to Allah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allah, and that Muhammad peace be upon him is His slave and Messenger.

There are no satanic verses in the Quran; rather, the whole Quran are verses of Mercy, and the Quran is a Book that is protected from any forgery or falsification; Allah Says (what means): {Indeed, it is We who sent down the message [i.e. the Quran] and indeed, We will be its guardian.} [Quran 15:9].

Is the Qur’an the word of the Jinn?

To prove that Qur’an is not the word of the devils or the jinn or the fabrications of monks and clergies, one needs to have deep pondering and contemplation; therefore, Allah Almighty says in the Qur’an: {Nor diviner’s speech, little is it that ye remember!} [69:42]. Al-Baidhawi (may Allah have mercy on him) said:

The differentiation between the Qur’an and divination depends on taking into account the situation of the Prophet (peace be upon him) and the Qur’anic spirit and principles which are contradictory to the diviners’ dispositions and sayings.

Here we mention some issues which can stand as pieces of evidence that the Qur’an is by no means the work of the Jinn:

1. Contemplate the abundant glimpses of goodness, righteousness, and guidance, which is beyond the ability and nature of the jinn and devils to produce. Allah Says (interpretation of meaning): {The devils did not bring it down. It is not meet for them, nor is it in their power} [26:210-211].

Explaining the meaning of this verse, Ibn Kathir said: Qur’an can never be the production of the devils for they are corrupt and deviant in nature and keen to causing aberrance and corruption to Allah’s worshippers.

Whereas Qur’an is a Book replete with prohibiting evil, enjoining good, light, and clear guidance. There is a huge difference between the Holy Qur’an and the devils. That is why Allah Says: {It is not meet for them} [26:211].

2. Ponder over the highly refined Qur’anic phraseology and matchless charismatic eloquence with which Allah defied both jinn and mankind to imitate. Allah Says (interpretation of meaning): {Say: Verily, though mankind and the Jinn should assemble to produce the like of this Qur’an, they could not produce the like thereof though they were helpers one of another. } [17:88].

There were among the Arabs diviners who were haunted and inspired by devils, so had they truly been able to encounter the Qur’an and produce something like it, they would have not hesitated to do so, due to their bitter enmity with Prophet Muhammad peace be upon him.

4) Worth attention are the events and information that the Qur’an talked about as predictions, none of which came to be untrue with the course of time up to date. Prophet Muhammad peace be upon him confidently proclaimed these facts and portents and talked about them repeatedly in different assemblies without the slightest fear lest time come to refute his proclamations.

3) The Holy Qur’an, in many places, chides and curses the devils. And it is impossible that they bring down something that curses them.

On the contrary, the diviners and their likes who claim fortune-telling and allege knowing the unseen, are in the habit of telling more lies and fabrications than facts. When any one of them tells of something, he becomes so worried lest what he tells come otherwise. These are some of the points which, once deeply contemplated, show the clear-cut difference between the Qur’an and the manipulation of the devils.

The challenge to all jinn and mankind to produce a like to the Qur’an is still going on until Doomsday. The answer to everyone who doubts the attribution of the Qur’an to Allah is the following Ayah (verse): {And if ye are in doubt concerning that which We revealed unto Our slave (Muhammad), then produce a sura or the like thereof, and call your witnesses beside Allah if ye are truthful.} [2:23].

Regarding the so called The Satanic verses Book:

As regards the book entitled ‘The Satanic Verses’, it is a book of misguidance, and its writer wanted to make people doubt about some foundations of the religion and shake the trust of the Muslims in their religion, and the scholars ruled that the writer of this book is an apostate.

Regarding the verses in Chapter An-Najm [Quran 53], it is a response to what some polytheists used to believe in, that the idols and angels are daughters of Allah, but if a man amongst them was given glad tiding of a female, he would hate that, so Allah denied them from attributing to Allah what they hated to attribute to themselves and clarified that this is unjust.

As regards the verses in Chapter Al-Hajj [Quran 22], in which Allah Says (what means): {And We did not send before you any messenger or prophet except that when he spoke [or recited]; Satan threw into it [some misunderstanding]. But Allah abolishes that which Satan throws in; then Allah makes precise His verses. And Allah is Knowing and Wise.

[That is] so He may make what Satan throws in [i.e., asserts] a trial for those within whose hearts is disease and those hard of heart. And indeed, the wrongdoers are in extreme dissension.} [Quran 22: 52-53], they clarify that there is no Prophet sent by Allah except that the devil tries to mix his words with the words that the Prophet recites from Allah, the Lord of the Worlds, and Allah protects His Words from the words of the devil.

The verses also show that the whispers of the devil may be an affliction to some people in whose hearts is a disease, and so they try to attribute what the devil said to the Words of Allah, the Most Merciful.

Furthermore, the Prophet peace be upon him did not approve of the Quraysh about their worship of the idols, and he never approved this of them, rather, it is known from them that they spread about him that he insulted their gods. However, if you refer to the story of Gharaaneeq –plural of Gharaniq which is a beautiful white long-necked bird known in English as a crane –then this story is false and unfounded.

The story says that the Prophet peace be upon him recited Surah An-Najm to the non-Muslims until he reached the verses 19-20 then the devil put words into his mouth, and he said, ‘they are the exalted Gharaaneeq whose intercession is to be hoped for’. Then the non-Muslims were pleased with the praise of their idols and so they prostrated. So, this story is unfounded and untrue.

Moreover, there is absolutely no contradiction in the Quran in the verses about breastfeeding or other verses. Nonetheless, if you mean that there is a contradiction between the verses in Chapter Luqmaan in which Allah Says (what means): {…and his weaning is in two years.}[Quran 31:14], and the verses in Chapter Al-Ahqaaf in which Allah Says

(what means): {…and his gestation and weaning [period] is thirty months.}[Quran 46:15], then the first verse states that the breastfeeding is completed in two years, and the second verse clarifies that the gestation and weaning may be completed in a period of thirty months.

The scholars may Allah be pleased with them clarified that this means that the minimum period of pregnancy is six months, and the remaining is the period of breastfeeding, which is 24 months, so there is no contradiction between the two verses.

Is it true that they discovered missing parts of the Quran in Yemen in 1972?

The Qur’an is reserved from any form of corruption by Allah. So, no one can find two different copies, i.e. There is not a copy that is different from another on earth since the original collection into a single copy. Even if one finds a distorted copy, Muslims will immediately discover its falsehood and refute it by Allah’s Favor.

Here, we must answer this false claim as follows.

1) It is not strange to find a manuscript that contradicts copies among Muslims. Such a manuscript could be done by some distorters at any time, especially from Jews and disbelievers. But this does not give any evidence that such a copy is right while others are distorted, since such a situation is dependent on some logical facts such as knowing the copyist/transcriber, the time of such a copy, nature and authenticity of transcription and its soundness of change. In fact, we have not seen any of such things in the article.

2) It is a well-known fact among scholars of recitation/reading of the Qur’an, that the Qur’an was written without the vowel markings and consonantal dots in order to be understood according to all ways of reading among Arab tribes.

The Qur’an was sent down in seven ways of reading and all of them are forms of the sound and pure Arabic language as mentioned in the Sunnah. Such a point is, in fact, evidence that proves the miraculous nature of the Qur’an. Nobody among Christians can contest that.

As for differences in the order of the verses, such a point is no more than an obvious lie; otherwise, the claimant would present some examples and mention Surah and numbers of verses. But it is no more than an exaggeration, misguidance, and agitation.

3) More forms of exaggeration, agitation and fallacy are also clear in the concerned claim since the claimant discusses irrelevant issues such as the Hijrah of the Prophet peace be upon him and his life. Other padding issues were done in the writer’s reports about some deviated personalities and their vicious stand from the Noble Qur’an without proof.

It was the claimant’s duty to discuss the main issue: “What is the Qur’an?

In other words, he did not tell us any authentic information about “his manuscript”. Finally, we state that such a claim does not deserve our reply and comments, but just to satisfy your wish we did present the above-mentioned. It is a false and malicious claim unsupported by any form of scientific research.

Finally, it should be mentioned that if a person is not well-versed in religious knowledge, it is not permissible for him to debate with the people of falsehood, and one should avoid keeping company with such people as they may spoil his religion.

Allah knows Best.

Almighty Allah is the highest and most knowledgeable, and the attribution of knowledge to him is the safest.

Right from Almighty Allah and wrong from me and Satan
