People can say ‘there is no evidence that Abraham existed’ but for those who follow an Abrahamic religion:
There is only one ‘GPS’ area in the Bible which states,ย where Ishmael and Hagar settled. The location of the ZamZam well is in Mecca.
Genesis 21:17-21 New International Version (NIV)
17 God heard the boy crying, and the angel of God called to Hagar from heaven and said to her, โWhat is the matter, Hagar?
Do not be afraid; God has heard the boy crying as he lies there.
18 Lift the boy up and take him by the hand, for I will make him into a great nation.โ
19 Then God opened her eyes and she saw a well of water. So, she went and filled the skin with water and gave the boy a drink.
20 God was with the boy as he grew up. He lived in the desert and became an archer.
21 While he was living in the Desert of Paran, his mother got a wife for him from Egypt.
Ancient Arab history testifies almost exactly to these events. Although the Arab version is slightly different. Abraham accompanies Hagar and Ishmael and leaves them at that spot, after which in desperation, Hagar runs back and forth between the mountains of Safa and Marwa in desperation looking for water for little Ishmael who is crying with thirst – after which Ishmaelโs heel hits the ground and water comes out – resulting in the ZamZam well. God heard Ishmael crying – Ishmael means ‘God listens to him’.
The descendants of Ishmael became the Arabs, and they passed this story down from generation to generation. They did not get it from the Torah later nor did they ever care what was in the Torah so the fact that these two versions of events match add to their authenticity.
It is then believed that Abraham regularly came to visit Ishmael and together they built a temple upon the sacred land (the Kaaba in Mecca) setting into it the stone which had been sent down from heaven which landed in the exact location that the Kaaba was to be built. This is the black stone today in Mecca.

Over many generations of degradation, the Ishmaelites eventually left the Abrahamic Monotheism of their ancestor Ishmael and fell into deep idolatry but they never forgot 2 things even though they forgot their pure Monotheism:
They always knew they were Ishmaelites and they knew their origin and their history, about Ishmael and Hagar being left there by Abraham and the ZamZam well and Abraham and Ishmael later building the Kaaba in Mecca and about the black stone. They knew this as these stories were passed down and venerated as part of their history.
They kept up the practice of circumcision taught by their fathers Ishmael and Abraham.
Other than this they fell into deep idolatry and put 360 idols around the Holy Kaaba in Mecca = a tabernacle built by Abraham.
Prophet Muhammad peace be upon him smashed all 360 when he conquered Mecca and brought the holy sanctuary of Kaaba in Mecca back to Abrahamic Monotheism.
The Kaaba in Mecca did not go: Paganism -> Abrahamic Monotheism as so many people mistakenly try to imply today.
Rather it went Abrahamic Monotheism -> Paganism -> Abrahamic Monotheism.
As for what proof there is of Abraham building the Kaaba in Mecca amongst people who believe in Abraham.
Every form of criticism towards Prophet Muhammad raised by the Jews and Christians of his time is recorded in the hadith but not a single Jew ever contested that Abraham built the Kaaba in Mecca.
This is the strongest proof. The pagan Meccans used to come to the Jews in desperation trying to find ways to refute Prophet Muhammed peace be upon him. They would have loved to hear that the Kaaba in Mecca had nothing to do with Abraham.
They would have thrown this in Muhammad’s face every day. But the Jews never said this, nor ever disputed this.
Arab history states that the Jews also used to visit the Kaaba in Mecca and knew its importance and connection to Abraham, but they started keeping away from it due to the statues and idolatry that had started there.
And it is said that the Jews that rejected him (and were subsequently defeated in humiliation after siding with the pagans), then went and removed all obvious references to the Kaaba in Mecca and Paran from their teachings and the Torah and focused fully on Jerusalem instead.
The fact that no Jew, Christian, Pagan or anyone else ever contested that Abraham had built the Kaaba in Mecca during the time of Prophet Muhammed, and the fact that it was accepted as an agreed fact amongst everyone at the time, is the strongest proof amongst those who believe in Abraham that Abraham built the Kaaba in Mecca.
The Jews and Christians of that time – who encountered Muhammad peace be upon him did not ever dispute it or deny that he was an Ishmaelite or deny the association of the Kaaba in Mecca to Abraham.
And the pagan Arabs in Mecca at the time of Muhammad peace be upon him also knew about their ancestry and about Ishmael and Hagar and the Zam Zam well – they did not get it from the Torah – they could not care less about the Torah. They also kept up the practice of circumcision despite forgetting their pure monotheism.
The Arabs knew about Allah – the one true unseen God that Abraham and Ishmael worshipped, and they knew about the sacred House =Kaaba in Mecca was dedicated to God built by the above 2 – but over time they had decayed to form false notions about God – attributing idols as daughters to Him and attributing lots of other co-gods to Him and plunging into idolatry.
There is no evidence that they worshipped the sun or the moon though. They were devoted to their 360 idols – none of these idols were โAllahโ – they were all gods alongside Allah. Allah was the unseen Creator up in the heavens.
These same Arabs despised Muhammadโs peace be upon him a monotheistic call, his message of returning to the pure monotheistic religion of Abraham, they were also no friends of the Jews or of Judaism either and they were enormously proud of their idols and religion – yet even they accepted that they were children of Abraham and that Abraham had built the Kaaba in Mecca. Because it was common knowledge amongst them all.
In fact, the pagan Arabs would have probably been happy to say the Kaaba in Mecca was not built by Abraham to invalidate Muhammadโs peace be upon him message of Islam – but they did not as it was such common knowledge and accepted fact – as was the origin of the Zam Zam well.
The problem is – that you are basing your arguments on your bible which sadly – has more contradictions and inconsistencies than it has pages.
Genesis 15 -> Genesis 22 is a shambolic muddled and riddled contradictory account – a botched hatchet job carried out by lying scribes seeking to discredit Ishmael and doing an extremely poor job of it – all which can be exposed upon closer scrutiny. The ordering of the events in these chapters are wrong and there is clear tampering of words and reordering and moving of phrases that can be easily exposed throughout these 8 chapters if I went into detail.
The age of Ishmael when Isaac would be weaning (babies wean at nearly age 1) would be around 15 according to the bible (Gen 16:16/ Gen 21:5).
A 15-year-old at that time would have been considered a fully grown man of marriageable age.
Yet the narrative of when Hagar is in the desert with Ishmael in Gen 21 clearly indicates that Ishmael is a small child or a baby. She โputsโ him under a tree and the child is crying with thirst causing her distress and panic.
The Arab tradition passed down through the Quraysh also says that Ishmael was only a baby when his foot struck the earth and water came out – forming the ZamZam well.
God did not hear Hagar. He heard Ishmael – Gen 21:17.
Ishmael – God hears him.
The fact that Ishmael was a baby clearly shows that they were there before the birth of Isaac and were not โthrown outโ. A lying scribe has entered this false account of Sarah demanding her banishment without doing his homework for months.
What really happened is that God commanded this as He wanted Ishmael to become a nation with his own land and dominion.
And indeed, the nation of Ishmael has always had dominion over this land.
Ishmael has never been conquered.
Ishmael has never been enslaved or lived under the boot of a Pharaoh.
Ishmael has never had to wander a desert aimlessly for 40 years.
Israel was given Canaan, but they were also given a covenant that when the Prophet Like Moses, the Chosen One would appear – from their BRETHREN (same word BRETHREN as used in Gen 16:12) – they would all have to follow him, and if they do – they will gain all the land of Genesis 15:18-21.
And it was through the seed of Ishmael (Muhammad peace be upon him) that the promise of Genesis 22:18 was fulfilled. The โNations/Gentilesโ in Hebrew terminology refers specifically to the land promised to Abraham (Genesis 15:18-21).
All this land came out of idolatry and under Muslim control and to the God of Abraham through the Muslims after Muhammad peace be upon him.
The Israelites have NEVER had this land or looked like having this land for a single second. Israel could not even keep idolatry out of its own nation despite a long chain of prophets – never mind vanquish idolatry throughout this land.
