Here are some interesting photos that caught my eye. Look at the head of the embryo and the leech’s front and rear suckers:

Left,Β shows an embryo of about 22 days[1].Β Right,Β A leech’s (rear) sucker [2].

The leech’s head is at the narrower end of the body. [3]

A scanning electron microscope of the embryo (dorsal view). About 25 days. [4]

A scanning electron microscope view of the embryo (dorsolateral view). About 24 days. [4]
Leech from Movile Cave, Romania. [5]

Does the embryo resemble the leech??? What do YOU think?
