The reconciliation of Allah’s saying: (And We did not send to them any warner before you) Quran (34:44) and Allah’s saying: (And there is no nation but a warner in it) and Quran (10:47), Quran (16:35), Quran (35:24), Quran (40:5), Quran (22:34-67)

Question

How can we reconcile what came in Quran (34:44), and other verses that indicate that the Messenger Muhammad, peace be upon him, was sent by Allah to a nation upon which no messenger or warner had come before, and the verses that mention that Allah sent a warner to every nation, Quran (10:47), Quran (16:35), Quran (35:24), Quran (40:5), Quran (22:34-67) ?

Answer

Thank Allah.

First:

It is from the mercy of Allah Almighty to His creation that He sent to them Messengers, and sent down the Books to them, to bring them out of darkness into light, and to establish proof against them, for there is no nation among the nations except that Allah has sent to them a Messenger, and sent a warner among them, calling them to worship their Lord, and warning them of the punishment of a great day.

Allah Exalted He says: “There is no community that has not had a warner.^”Quran (35:24)

Allah Exalted He says: “We surely sent a messenger to every community, saying, “Worship Allah and shun false gods.” Quran (16:36)

Second:

The face of the interpretation and the meaning of the verse:

“And you were not at the side of Mount Ṭûr when We called out ˹to Moses˺. But ˹you have been sent˺ as a mercy from your Lord to warn a people to whom no warner has come before you, so perhaps they may be mindful.” Quran (28:46)

Allah Exalted He says:

“No! It is the truth from your Lord in order for you to warn a people to whom no warner has come before you, so they may be ˹rightly˺ guided.” Quran (32:3)

Allah Exalted He says:

“We had never given them any scriptures to study, nor did We ever send them a warner before you ˹O Prophet˺” Quran (34:44)

The point of reconciliation of all these verses is that Allah’s saying: (No warner came to them before you), and his saying:

(And We did not send to them (The Arab Pagans of Quraysh tribe that lived during Prophet Muhammed time in Mecca) before you any warner from the Arabs SPECIFICALLY.

Or by which he meant the Arabs). Allah Almighty did not send a messenger among them before Muhammad, may Allah bless him and grant him peace.

As for the Allah’s saying:

“There is no community that has not had a warner.^”Quran (35:24)

And Similarly:

What is meant is:

All nations: All nations have made vows, and messengers came to them, except for this illiterate nation of the Arab Pagans of Quraysh tribe who lived during Prophet Muhammed peace be upon him time, or the Arabs in general. No warner came to them before the coming of the Prophet, peace be upon him

Qatadah said:

“I mean, the Arab Pagans of Quraysh tribe who lived during Prophet Muhammed peace be upon him time, they were an illiterate nation that no warner came to them before Muhammad peace be upon him.

End quote from “Al-Jami’ Ahkam al-Qur’an” (14/84).

“The Almighty says,” The meaning of the interpretation of Allah.

Sheikh Ibn Uthaymeen, may Allah have mercy on him, was asked:

What is the meaning of the Allah’s saying: (And every nation has a Messenger).

And the Allah’s saying: (And We did not send to them before you a warner)

And also, the verse: (And there are among them)?

Sheikh Ibn Uthaymeen replied:

“These verses do not conflict; Allah has sent in every nation of a messenger; as the Allah said (and we have sentenced in every nation of a messenger to worship Allah and avoid the tyrants.”

And for every nation there is a warner who warns it of the punishment of God Almighty and gives good tidings of His mercy to those who obey.

As for His saying, Allah says:

“No! It is the truth from your Lord in order for you to warn a people to whom no warner has come before you, so they may be ˹rightly˺ guided.” Quran (32:3)

What is meant is that Allah Almighty did not send to the Arabs who lived AT THE TIME of Prophet Muhammed a warner before Prophet Muhammad, may Allah’s prayers and peace be upon him.

And that is why there is no Arab messenger except Prophet Muhammad, may Allah’s prayers and peace be upon him, which is the call of Abraham and Ismail.

As Allah mentioning Prophet Abraham peace be upon him request in the Quran:

“Our Lord! Raise from among them a messenger who will recite to them Your revelations, teach them the Book and wisdom, and purify them. Indeed, You ˹alone˺ are the Almighty, All-Wise.”

Quran (2:129)

Allah Almighty did not send a warner to the Arabs except Muhammad, may Allah’s prayers and peace be upon him. Allah Almighty sent him as a warner, and to all people.

As Allah Almighty said:

“Say, ˹O Prophet, ˺ “O humanity! I am Allah’s Messenger to you all” Quran (7:158)

And see: “Zad al-Maseer” (6/333), “Fath al-Qadir” (4/252), “Tafsir al-Saadi” (p. 617).

Ibn Juzi, may Allah have mercy on him:

Chose that what is meant by denying the vow is that they are those who initially received the message of Islam, AT THE TIME of the Prophet, may Allah’s prayers and peace be upon him, were exclusively the Arab Pagans of Quraysh tribe, as they were the first people to receive the message of Islam and they did not receive a messenger before Prophet Muhammed.

Ibn Juzi, may Allah have mercy on him, said:

“There is no community that has not had a warner.^”Quran (35:24)

Its meaning is that Allah has sent to every nation a prophet to establish the proof against them.

This question remains:

How would you reconciliate between “There is no community that has not had a warner.^”Quran (35:24)

And

“No! It is the truth from your Lord in order for you to warn a people to whom no warner has come before you, so they may be ˹rightly˺ guided.” Quran (32:3)

The answer is:

They did not have a contemporary warner come to them, so those who came before their era did not object to that.

Also, what is meant by his saying: “There is no community that has not had a warner.^”Quran (35:24)

Is that the prophethood of Muhammad, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, is not an innovation, so it should not be denied, because Allah sent him just as He sent before him.

And what is meant by his saying:

“No! It is the truth from your Lord in order for you to warn a people to whom no warner has come before you, so they may be ˹rightly˺ guided.” Quran (32:3)

The contemporary people who lived at the time of prophet Muhammed and the rest of the mankind till Judgment Day are in need of warning.

Because no one was sent by Allah to warn them at that time, so the context of the speech is different, so there is no contradiction between them.

Conclusion

Based on the above, Prophet Ibrahim and his son Prophet Ishmael were in Mecca long time ago went and lived in Mecca for a while while Building the Kaaba and OBVIOULSY there were NOT sent to to Arab Pagans of quraysh tribe who Prophet Muhammed was sent to them.

Therefore When Allah Exalted he states that NO Prophet or Messenger were sent to to Arab Pagans of quraysh tribe who Prophet Muhammed was sent to them, then it is VERY CORRECT and CRYSTAL CLEAR FACT.

Allah Exalted He says in the Glorious Holy Qur’an:

“No! It is the truth from your Lord in order for you to warn a people to whom no warner has come before you, so they may be ˹rightly˺ guided.” Quran (32:3)
