We will start by exploring the answers in the Bible first before providing the response from within the Islamic texts as well as explore modern history. Perhaps that would help too. As for as atheists and atheism are concerned, they did not have polygamy but mass rape and mass murders. Make sure to check the below reference.

Modern history has provided us with concrete evidence that Christians, Catholics, Buddhists, and various non-Muslims who prohibited marriage and legitimate sexual relationships within a marriage relationship, that they are the biggest hypocrites ever.

The whole world has heard about endless sexual scandals of the Catholic church and how they have paid hundreds of millions of dollars in compensation to the families of children that they have sexually abused over decades, without forgetting the scandals about high profile homosexual cardinals to the Roman Catholic pope in Rome.

The Nuns also were victims and we have heard, saw, and watched about the problem of pregnant nuns and nuns who left the church to work as prostitutes. Other religions and Christian denominations are no better, make sure to do your due diligence research and we are happy to provide you with more information.

Islam prohibited monasticism, celibacy, and self-castration because Islam is the true religion from God that balances between life and the hereafter. Islam advice that marrying and having an intercourse which is a sexual relationship with your wife will be rewarded by Almighty Allah for controlling your desires and direct it in the legitimate way rather than put it in the illegitimate way out of marriage.

Now let us find out from the Bible if Polygamy is tolerated or if Islam just invented the concept of polygamy.

Polygamy in the New Testament:

Jesus allowed polygamy:

Matthew 19
9. I tell you that anyone who divorces his wife, except for marital unfaithfulness, and marries another woman a similar commits adultery.

Notice “another woman” got crossed. This is because the word “woman” is not there in the Greek, and the word for “another” also means similar.

Notice “another woman” got crossed. This is because the word “woman” is not there in the Greek, and the word for “another” also means similar. If we look at the Greek language on the reference link, we will find this: แผ„ฮปฮปฮทฮฝ (allฤ“n) 243: other, another. Please check the reference link at the end of this article and the attached image you will see its definition: “another of the same kind; another of similar type.”

Paul and Jesus allowed polygamy:

Paul also allowed polygamy to the masses, and Jesus in other verses also allowed it to the masses. This, article thoroughly proves that polygamy is indeed allowed in the New Testament, and that Christianity is built on false inspirations and “conjecture”, exactly as Allah Almighty said in the Glorious Quran, about the religion of conjecture, Christianity.

Again, it is quite ludicrous that the one and only verse that prohibits polygamy is not even talking about polygamy.  This false religion of conjecture makes sinful things lawful and lawful things sinful.  And that in itself is a blasphemy against GOD Almighty.

Bible’s polygamy is lacking:

Even the Bible’s polygamy is lacking.  In Islam, I cannot marry both the mother and her daughter, or even two sisters (only if one sister dies or I divorce her, then I can marry the other).  In Islam also, a stepdad can never marry his stepdaughter, even if he divorces her mom or becomes a widow.

Same with stepmom and stepson, and mother-in-law and father-in-law.  Bible quacks declare Islam a womanizing religion for permitting polygamy up to four wives.

In the Bible’s polygamy, it is open.  I can marry the guy’s mother, sister, and daughter.  Stepdads, stepmoms, father, and mother in laws can marry stepchildren and children-in-law.  Mormon polygamists do exactly this.  Even their prophet, Joseph Smith, married a mother and her daughter.

If this were not condoned in the Bible, they would not dare to practice it.  I personally see this as another proof, from countless others that the corrupt bible does not reflect the True Word of GOD Almighty.

Jesus said: “Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them.  I tell you the truth, until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter, not the least stroke or a pen, will by any means disappear from the Law (the Old Testament) until everything is accomplished.  (Matthew 5:17-18)”

There is not a single verse from the New Testament that prohibits polygamy.   Let us look at the following:

1 Corinthians 7
10 I instruct married couples to stay together, and this is exactly what the Lord himself taught. A wife who leaves her husband
11 should either stay single or go back to her husband. And a husband should not leave his wife.

Notice, no command for the husband to “stay single”.  This is because he can marry another single woman at any time.

Matthew 5:31-32
31 “It has been said, ‘Anyone who divorces his wife must give her a certificate of divorce.’
32 But I tell you that anyone who divorces his wife, except for marital unfaithfulness, causes her to become an adulteress, and anyone who marries the divorced woman commits adultery.

A man can marry multiple women, while the woman can only marry one man.  Here Jesus warns that unlawful divorces will cause women, who are still remaining married while thinking they’ve been divorced, to commit adultery.  They would still be married to their first husbands.

100-fold of wives in Heaven, never promised husbands for each wife:

Jesus promised each believer 100 times the wives in Heaven:

Matthew 19:29
29 And everyone that hath forsaken houses, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my name’s sake, shall receive a hundredfold, and shall inherit everlasting life.

The Bible does talk about having metaphoric fathers, mothers, children and brothers and sisters in faith.  But metaphoric wives??  No.  This cannot be, because this would then be coveting (Jesus committed this in the NT) and adultery.  Plus, it would promote open marriages.  And again, he never promised husbands for each wife.  Instead, he said divorce doesn’t divorce her, and it would cause her to commit adultery if she marries another man.

Polygamy is commanded in the Old Testament:

Here are some examples where polygamy is not only allowed in the OT, but it is also commanded by GOD Almighty:

If a woman becomes a widow, then she must marry her brother-in-law, regardless of whether he is already married and has children or not (Deuteronomy 25).

This is to keep the deceased husband’s family line from ending, i.e., she should have her offspring from his family.  If her brother-in-law (the deceased husband’s brother) refuses to marry her, then she must spit on his face before the elders (Deuteronomy 25:9).

If a man rapes a virgin, then he must marry her if her father agrees to give her to him (Deuteronomy 22:28).

Again, it does not matter if the man is already married or not.

Let us look at some of the verses from the Old Testament that allow polygamy:

In Exodus 21:10, a man can marry an infinite amount of women without any limits to how many he can marry.

In 2 Samuel 5:13; 1 Chronicles 3:1-9, 14:3, King David had six wives and numerous concubines.

In 1 Kings 11:3, King Solomon had 700 wives and 300 concubines.

In 2 Chronicles 11:21, King Solomon’s son Rehoboam had 18 wives and 60 concubines.

In Deuteronomy 21:15 “If a man has two wives, and he loves one but not the other, and both bear him sons….”

2 Samuel 12:8 “I gave your master’s house to you, and your master’s wives into your arms.  I gave you the house of

Israel and Judah.  And if all this had been too little, I would have given you even more.”

Prophet/King Solomon had 700 wives and 300 concubines in the Bible: –

1 kings 11

2 They were from nations about which the LORD had told the Israelites, “You must not intermarry with them, because they will surely turn your hearts after their gods.” Nevertheless, Solomon held fast to them in love.

3 He had seven hundred wives of royal birth and three hundred concubines, and his wives led him astray.

Prophet Muhammad visiting all his wives in one night?

Some of the Christians use the following tradition and yell obscenities against the Holy Prophet, may Allah bless him, saying that he had passion for women.

First, the hadith is Authentic=Sahih Narrated Anas:

The Prophet peace be upon him used to go round (have sexual relations with) all his wives in one night, and he had nine wives.

Reference: Sahih al-Bukhari 5068 In-book reference: Book 67, Hadith 6 USC-MSA web (English) reference: Vol. 7, Book 62, Hadith 6

But as a matter of fact, this is clearly wrong translation and the words within parenthesis do not find any place here.

Actual text of the Hadith and correct translation:

Now the Hadฤซth goes as.

The word, ูŠูŽุทููˆูู =goes around is like ุทูˆุงู i.e., circumambulating the Holy Kaโ€™ba only refers to going around and has no other nuance whatsoever. So, the correct translation of the Hadฤซth is:

Narrated Anas: The Prophet I used to go round all his wives in one night, and he had nine wives.โ€ (Bukhari, Hadฤซth 275)

There is nothing special in the Hadฤซth. It in fact shows that he cared for all his wives and went to see them.

The query probably rises from the famous translation of this Hadฤซth which is there in well-known software. In that software it reads.

“The Prophet I used to go round (have sexual relations with) all his wives in one night, and he had nine wives.”

One can clearly see that the words โ€˜have sexual relations withโ€™ are in parenthesis, that is to say these are not the direct meanings of the Arabic words but addition by the translator to help understand according to his understanding.

But I disagree with his understanding and thus believe that these words in the parentheses are not helping to understand better but are rather misleading. Holy Prophet, may Allah bless him, did visit them all but it is not that he had sexual relations with each of them.

Details of Prophetโ€™s visits to his wives:

Urwa reported on the authority of his father:

โ€˜Aisha said: O my nephew, the Messenger of Allah, may Allah did not prefer one of us to other in respect of his division of time of his staying with us. It was very rare that he did not visit any of us any day. He would come near each of his wives without having any intercourse with her until he reached the one who had her day (i.e., her turn) and passed his night with her.”

(Sunan Abลซ Dawลซd Hadฤซth 2135. Albฤni classified it as Hasan Sahih)

Besides Sunan Abu Dawud the narration is found in,

Musnad Ahmad (No. 23621)
Baihaqi’s Sunan Al-Kubra (No. 13434, 14754)
Mustadrak Al-Hakim (No. 2710)

It is found in Sunan Darqutni (No.3781) too with more explicit wording.

Imam Shawkani has taken the hadith on same account. He writes,

“Similarly, it is allowed for the husband to enter upon the wife [even if, it being] without her turn [to spend night with] and to come closer to her and touch her except the intercourse as in the Hadith of Aisha mentioned above.” (Nayl al-Awtar 10/213)

It makes it clear beyond all doubt here that he visited all of them just to see them and dint have intercourse with each of them but only with the one whose turn was it that day.

Further clarification:

One may refer to the narration from Anas, may Allah be pleased with him, in which he related the same issue of Prophet, may Allah bless him, all his wives in a single with him being given the “strength of thirty men.” One may say this implies the Prophet, may Allah bless him, used to have intercourse with all his wives.

But how can the implied understanding of some other companions be taken in precedence over a direct authentic report from none other than the wife of the Holy Prophet, may Allah bless him? Who else would have been more knowledgeable of such intimate details of the Prophet’s personal life?

Similarly, even the word ูŠูŽุทููˆูู=goes around implies ‘intercourse’ when used in relation to a person going to his wife [or wives] it will not work here for an explicit authentic report from the wife of the Prophet, may Allah bless him, bars us.

Prohibition of Castration for Muslims unlike some non-Islamic teachings: –

Narrated Sa`d bin Abi Waqqas:

โ€œAllah’s Messenger peace be upon him forbade `Uthman bin Maz’un to abstain from marrying (and other pleasures) and if he had allowed him, we would have gotten ourselves castrated.โ€

Reference: Sahih al-Bukhari 5073 In-book reference: Book 67, Hadith 11 USC-MSA web (English) reference: Vol. 7, Book 62, Hadith 11

Also, on the authority of Abu Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him):

โ€œAnd in the bud`i [sexual act] of each one of you there is a charity.” They said, “O Messenger of Allah, when one of us fulfils his carnal desire will he have some reward for that?” He (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said,

“Do you not see that if he were to act upon it [his desire] in an unlawful manner then he would be deserving of punishment? Likewise, if he were to act upon it in a lawful manner then he will be deserving of a reward.” [Muslim]

Reference: Hadith 25, 40 Hadith an-Nawawi

Islam is totally opposed to monasticism and celibacy as it goes against human nature: –

‘Uthman bin Maz’un was a close companion of Prophet Muhammed. One day his wife came to the Prophet and complained, “O the Messenger of Allah! ‘Uthman fasts during the day and stands for prayers during the night. โ€œIn other words, she meant to say that her husband was abstaining from sexual relations during the night as well as the day.

Uthman bin Maz’un may Allah be pleased with him went so far as to renounce sexual intercourse with his wife, yet when Prophet Muhammed peace be upon him heard about this exaggerated attitude, there is a narration that, out of religious devotion, Uthman bin Maz’un may Allah be pleased with him decided to dedicate himself from prayer and take a vow of chastity from his wife.

His wife spoke to Prophet Muhammed peace be upon him about this, and Prophet Muhammed peace be upon him gently reminded Uthman bin Maz’un may Allah be pleased with him that he himself, as a Prophet, also had a family life and that Uthman had a responsibility to his family and should not adopt monasticism as a form of religious practice.

Prophet Muhammed peace be upon him summoned Uthman bin Maz’un may Allah be pleased with him and said, “Your wife has the right to have sexual intercourse with you.”

Another Hadith, Narrated Anas bin Malik:

A group of three men came to the houses of the wives of the Prophet peace be upon him asking how the Prophet peace be upon him worshipped (Allah), and when they were informed about that, they considered their worship insufficient and said,

“Where are we from the Prophet peace be upon him as his past and future sins have been forgiven.” Then one of them said, “I will offer the prayer throughout the night forever.” The other said, “I will fast throughout the year and will not break my fast.

” The third said, “I will keep away from the women and will not marry forever.” Allah’s Messenger peace be upon him came to them and said, “Are you the same people who said so-and-so?

By Allah, I am more submissive to Allah and more afraid of Him than you; yet I fast and break my fast, I do sleep, and I also marry women. So, he who does not follow my tradition in religion, is not from me (not one of my followers).

Reference: Sahih al-Bukhari 5063 In-book reference: Book 67, Hadith 1 USC-MSA web (English) reference: Vol. 7, Book 62, Hadith 1

A wife of one of Prophet Muhammedโ€™s companions his name was Uthman bin Maz’oon came to the Prophet and complained, โ€œO Messenger of God! ‘Uthman fasts during the day and stands for prayers during the night.โ€

In other words, she meant to say that her husband was avoiding sexual relations during the night as well as the day.

The Prophet went to ‘Uthman and told him โ€œO ‘Uthman! Allah did not send me for monasticism, rather He sent me with a simple and straight [Shariah]. I fast, pray, and have intimate relations with my wife. So, whosoever likes my tradition, then he should follow it; and marriage is one of my traditions.

The prophet was denied the most severe of denial for some of his companions, who may have stressed themselves in worship, and perhaps abandoned their women.

Regarding Prophet Muhammed worship for Almighty Allah:

The Prophet, Allahโ€™s prayers and peace be upon him, was the most fearful of people to the Lord of the worlds, and the most fearful of them, and this came in several hadiths.

As for what was mentioned in the question, it does not conflict with the guidance of the Prophet peace be upon him, in achieving the status of private slavery, and it does not contradict the fact that he, peace be upon him, is the servant of Allah who prayed, fasted, helped his wives, and led the Muslims for the goodness of both worlds.

This is a well-known and well-known matter, and among the narrations concerning that:

Chapter: Standing of the Prophet (pbuh) at night

Narrated Al-Mughira:

The Prophet peace be upon him) used to stand (in the prayer) or pray till both his feet or legs swelled. He was asked why (he offered such an unbearable prayer) and he said, “should I not be a thankful slave.”

Reference: Sahih al-Bukhari 1130 In-book reference: Book 19, Hadith 10 USC-MSA web (English) reference: Vol. 2, Book 21, Hadith 230

The one who looks at the life of the Prophet, peace be upon him, sees moderation in all matters, performs the right of his Lord from servitude, asceticism and fulfills the right of his Muslim nation=Ummah from advocacy and education, fulfills the right of his family from treating them with virtue and upmost morals, and strives for the sake of Allah by himself, Allahโ€™s peace, and blessings upon him.

And the hadiths were frequent over the intensity of his diligence in worship and obedience, until his feet were swollen from standing up, peace be upon him.

The Prophet may Allah โ€™s prayers and peace be upon him, came with the tolerant pure monotheistic message of Islam, where there is no exaggeration, and there is no separation of life from the religion and Sharia. Rather, he made the seeking of a legitimate source of income as a form of worship and to provide for your wife in all legitimate economic, emotional, marital relationship beside the religious education to be rewarded for by Almighty Allah, while Islam forbid sexual relationships outside marriage, it also forbids celibacy and monasticism.

Allah knows Best.

Arrogance is not only a sign of insecurity, but also a sign of immaturity. Mature and fully realised persons can get their points across, even emphatically without demeaning or intimidating others.
