If Islam is true, why would Allah fake Jesus’s crucifixion and intentionally deceive people for 600 years only to later reveal this to Prophet Muhammed?

Early Christians

The question is based on a false presupposition which is that people for 600 years thought that Jesus was crucified.

There are many sects of early Christianity that didn’t believe Jesus was crucified

Not Only the Quran but also Many people in History have claimed that Jesus was neither killed nor crucified.

Non-Muslims Historians and some early Christians testify that Jesus was not killed nor crucified.

In Christianity, Docetism is the doctrine that the phenomenon of Jesus, his historical and bodily existence, and above all the human form of Jesus, was mere semblance without any true reality. Broadly it is taken as the belief that Jesus only seemed to be human, and that his human form was an illusion.

One of the most accurate translations for Philadelphians 8:2 clearly tells us that this groupโ€™s contention was centred around Ignatius documents being corrupted and rejection of the crucifixion narrative peddled by Ignatius since it went against their own original document(s) they had in their possession [6] [7]:

โ€œ18 For I Trust in the grace of Jesus Christ that he will free you from every bond. 19 Nevertheless I exhort you that you do nothing out of strife, but according to the instruction of Christ.

20 BECAUSE I HAVE HEARD OF SOME WHO SAY, UNLESS I FIND IT WRITTEN IN THE ORIGINALS, I WILL NOT BELIEVE IT TO BE WRITTEN IN THE GOSPEL. And when I said, It is written, they answered what lay before them in their CORRUPTED COPIES. 21 But TO ME JESUS CHRIST is instead of all the uncorrupted monuments in the world, together with those undefiled monuments, HIS CROSS, AND DEATH.

And resurrection, and the faith, which is by him, by which I desire, through your prayers, to be justified.โ€ (The genuine epistles of the Apostolic fathers, St. Clement, St. Polycarp, St. Ignatius, St. Barnabas; the Shepherd of Hermas, and the Martyrdoms of St. Ignatius And St Polycarp, [Hartdford: Published by Parsons and Hills, 1834] Translated by William Wake, Lord Archbishop of Canterbury. page 149)

Did 1st Century Christians Reject The Crucifixion?

According to the First Revelation of James in the Nag Hammadi library, Jesus appeared to James after apparently being crucified and stated that another person had been inflicted in his place.

Christians you might deny this above-Mentioned evidence, well that is your problem, you have been denying lots of evidence.

Christian teachings, some Islamic traditions teach that Jesus ascended to Heaven without being put on the cross, but that God transformed another person to appear exactly like him. This thought is supported in misreading an account by Irenaeus, the 2nd-century Alexandrian Gnostic Basilides when refuting what he believes to be a heresy denying the death.

According to the Second Treatise of the Great Seth, Yaldabaoth (the Creator of the material universe) and his Archons tried to kill Jesus by crucifixion, but only killed their own man (that is the body). While Jesus ascended from his body, Yaldabaoth and his followers thought Jesus to be dead. In Apocalypse of Peter, Peter talks with the savior whom the โ€œpriests and peopleโ€ believed to have killed.

Manichaeism, which was influenced by Gnostic ideas, adhered to the idea that not Jesus, but somebody else was crucified instead. Jesusโ€™ suffering on the cross is depicted as the state of light particles (spirit) within matter instead.

According to Bogomilism, the crucifixion was an attempt by Lucifer to destroy Jesus, while the earthly Jesus was regarded as a prophet, Jesus himself was an immaterial being that cannot be killed. Accordingly, Lucifer failed and Jesusโ€™ sufferings on the cross were only an illusion.

Even according to some Christian sects in Japan, Jesus Christ did not die on the cross at Golgotha

According to the Glorious holy Quran, Jesus was not killed nor died or crucified by his enemies. The enemies of Jesus created the deception of crucifixion as a propaganda tool to subvert his good mission to their advantage. If Jesus is crucified then the devil has won, and so the devil also rules the world.

There are always and have always been two aspects of any war: a physical war and a psychological war. A physical war usually does not last very long, but the psychological war has no limits of time and space.

The story of the war of Jesus represents a psychological battlefield where the forces of โ€˜Goodnessโ€™ and โ€˜Corruptionโ€™ fight for the supremacy of their principal arguments. Those who want the crucified Jesus supports the Corruption side to justify their own corrupt actions under the pretense of survival.

The main excuse for any form of Corruption is always Survival, whilst the Goodness cares only about Compassion. If Jesus dies then the Corruption survives, and if he lives then Compassion wins. The narrative of Quran stands for the values of Compassion and rejects the arguments of Corruption.

โ€œAnd their boast, “Behold, we have slain the Christ Jesus, son of Mary, [who claimed to be] an apostle of God!” However, they did not slay him, and neither did they crucify him, but it only seemed to them [as if it had been] so; and, verily, those who hold conflicting views thereon are indeed confused, having no [real] knowledge thereof, and following mere conjecture. For, of a certainty, they did not slay him: (Quran 4:157)

Quran doesnโ€™t say that Allah allowed to fake the crucifixion so that a large group of people becomes deviated from the true path. Quran simply says that Jesus didnโ€™t die on cross. The story that another man was given likeliness of Jesus is not found In the Quran. Even some Muslim scholars opposed this substitution theory.

Islamic view on who was crucified

Ibn Kathir view Story of Jesus (Theย misunderstanding of crucifixion)ย

In his tafseer Ibn Kathir has elaborated on who was put on the Cross in the following words:

(The people conspiring against Jesus) โ€œenvied him because of his prophethood and obvious miracles; curing the blind and leprous and bringing the dead back to life, by Allahโ€™s leave. He also used to make the shape of a bird from clay and blow in it, and it became a bird by Allahโ€™s leave and flew. `Isa performed other miracles that Allah honored him with, yet some defied and belied him and tried their best to harm him.

Allahโ€™s Prophet `Isa could not live in any one city for long and he had to travel often with his mother, peace be upon them. Even so, some of the Jews were not satisfied, and they went to the king of Damascus at that time, a Greek polytheist who worshipped the stars. They told him that there was a man in Bayt Al-Maqdis misguiding and dividing the people in Jerusalem and stirring unrest among the kingโ€™s subjects.

The king became angry and wrote to his deputy in Jerusalem to arrest the rebel leader, stop him from causing unrest, crucify him and make him wear a crown of thorns. When the kingโ€™s deputy in Jerusalem received these orders, he went with some Jews to the house that `Isa was residing in, and he was then with twelve, thirteen or seventeen of his companions. That day was a Friday, in the evening.

They surrounded `Isa in the house, and when he felt that they would soon enter the house or that he would sooner or later have to leave it, he said to his companions, โ€œWho volunteers to be made to look like me, for which he will be my companion in Paradise.โ€โ€™ A young man volunteered, but `Isa thought that he was too young.

He asked the question a second and third time, each time the young man volunteering, prompting `Isa to say, โ€œWell then, you will be that man.โ€ Allah made the young man look exactly like `Isa, while a hole opened in the roof of the house, and `Isa was made to sleep and ascended to heaven while asleep.

Allah said, โ€œO `Isa! I will take you and raise you to myself.โ€ When `Isa ascended, those who were in the house came out. When those surrounding the house saw the man who looked like `Isa, they thought that he was `Isa. So they took him at night, crucified him and placed a crown of thorns on his head.

They then boasted that they killed `Isa and some Christians accepted their false claim, due to their ignorance and lack of reason. As for those who were in the house with `Isa, witnessed his ascension to heaven, while the rest thought that the Jews killed `Isa by crucifixion.

They even said that Maryam sat under the corpse of the crucified man and cried, and they say that the dead man spoke to her. All this was a test from Allah for His servants out of His wisdom. Allah explained this matter in the Glorious Quran which He sent to His honorable Messenger, whom He supported with miracles and clear, unequivocal evidence.

Allah is the Most Truthful, and He is the Lord of the worlds Who knows the secrets, what the hearts conceal, the hidden matters in heaven and earth, what has occurred, what will occur, and what would occur if it was decreed (Kathir I. , Tafsir Ibn Kathir).

At another place in his Tafseer, Ibn Kathir narrates the same story and links it to Muslims:

Ibn Abi Hatim recorded that Ibn `Abbas said, โ€œJust before Allah raised `Isa (Jesus) to the heavens, `Isa went to his companions, who were twelve inside the house. When he arrived, his hair was dripping water and he said, โ€˜There are those among you who will disbelieve in me twelve times after he had believed in me.โ€™ He then asked, โ€˜Who volunteers that his image appear as mine, and be killed in my place. He will be with me (in Paradise).โ€™

One of the youngest ones among them volunteered and `Isa asked him to sit down. `Isa (Jesus) again asked for a volunteer, and the young man kept volunteering and `Isa asking him to sit down. Then the young man volunteered again and `Isa (Jesus) said, โ€˜You will be that man,โ€™ and the resemblance of `Isa was cast over that man while `Isa ascended to heaven from a hole in the house.

When the Jews came looking for `Isa, they found that young man and crucified him. Some of `Isaโ€™s (Jesusโ€™) followers disbelieved in him twelve times after they had believed in him. They then divided into three groups. One group, Al-Ya`qubiyyah (Jacobites), said, โ€˜Allah remained with us as long as He willed and then ascended to heaven.โ€™

Another group, An-Nasturiyyah (Nestorians), said, โ€˜The son of Allah was with us as long as he willed and Allah took him to heaven.โ€™ Another group, Muslims, said, โ€˜The servant and Messenger of Allah remained with us as long as Allah willed, and Allah then took him to Him.โ€™ The two disbelieving groups cooperated against the Muslim group and they killed them.

Ever since that happened, Islam was then veiled until Allah sent Muhammad.โ€โ€™ This statement has an authentic chain of narration leading to Ibn `Abbas, and An-Nasaโ€™i narrated it through Abu Kurayb who reported it from Abu Mu`awiyah (Kathir I. , Tafsir Ibn Kathir, p. 771).

Allah exalted He did not deceive them; they were deceived by their wrong interpretations and explanation. Such a question is like the question if asked to the believers of Crucifixion.

If Trinity is true, then why there trinitarian Deity would deceive all previous Jewish Prophets to deceive all previous Jewish generations from children of Israel to believe in the original Monotheism belief about God as a One supreme deity?

Allah knows Best.
