Christians are desperately trying to twist the meaning of Qur’an Verse (5:117) to Prove Prophet Jesus died by using the false interpretation of the Ahmadi Qadiani Cult.

Mohamad Mostafa Nassar

All praise is due to Allah as many times as the number of His Creation, in accordance with His good pleasure, equal to the weight of His Throne and as much as the ink (used in recording) His words. All praise is due to Allah, the Worthy of all the praises and compliments.

I bear witness that there is no deity save Allah, having no associates. I also bear witness that our Master Muhammad is the Servant of Allah and His Messenger.

He was the trustworthy Prophet who was sent as a mercy for the whole worlds. May the peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, his pure family, and companions, and all those who follow them in righteousness till the Day of Judgment.

Mainstream Muslims who authentically try their best to follow the correct teachings of Islam as delivered by of Prophet Muhammed peace be upon him and by the understanding of the first three centuries of his companions and their followers, know that Ahmadi Qadianis who claim to be Muslims are out of the fold of Islam for various reasons. Please read the reference links for more explanations.

Christians are desperate trying to prove that Prophet Jesus was killed by crucifixion, and they have been quoting the non-Muslim cult of Ahmadi Qadiani that claims to be Muslims. Since the British Indian fake reformist Mirza Ghulam Ahmad.

Mirza Ghulam Ahmadi was supported by the British occupation for the sub-Indian continent in the 1880s in efforts to help the British occupation distort the true teachings to best serve their satanic desires again Islam, Muslims and to take hold of the whole sub-Indian continent to drain its wealth.

Ahmadi Qadiani movement start to twist the true meaning of The Noble Qur’an and they claimed that Jesus died.

The Noble Qur’an verses are Crystal CLEAR about the fact that Prophet Jesus’ son of Mary was not killed or crucified and was saved by ascension to heavens by the mercy and wisdom of Allah Exalted He.

Here are the crystal-clear verses from the Noble Qur’an clarifying that:

“And for their disbelief and their speaking against Maryam (Mary) a tremendous all-malicious (calumny).

And for their saying, “Surely, we killed the Masih, Isa son of Maryam, (The Messiah, Jesus son of Mary) the Messenger of Allah.” And in no way did they kill him, and in no way did they crucify him, but a resemblance of him was presented to them (i.e. the matter was made obscure for them through mutual resemblance).

And surely the ones who differed about him are indeed in doubt about him. (Or: it, “that”) In no way do they have any knowledge about him except the close following of surmise, and in no way did they kill him of a certainty. No indeed, Allah raised him up to Him; and Allah has been Ever-Mighty, Ever-Wise. And decidedly there is not one of the population of the Book (Or: Family of the Book, i.e., the Jews and Christians) but will indeed definitely believe in him before his death, and on the Day of the Resurrection he will be a witness against them.”

Surah An-Nisa=Chapter the women Qur’an (4:156-159)

Now let us understand the correct clarification of verses 5:117 and Qur’an 3:55 within its proper context:

The main verses which are Qur’an (5:117) and Qur’an (3:55) under Question regarding the ascension or death of Jesus/Eesa peace be upon him as alleged by some people who claimed themselves as Muslim as they translated it wrongly.

Qadiani (Ahmadi) translations are as below:

Please Note: Qadiani (Ahmadi) are Not Muslims, check the Islamic Religious decision link at the end of this article

” Remember the time when Allah said: ”O Jesus, I will cause thee to die a natural death and raise thee to Myself, and will clear thee of the charge of those who disbelieve, and will exalt those who follow thee above those who disbelieve, until the Day of resurrection, then to Me shall be your return, and I will judge between you concerning that wherein you differ.” Qur’an (3:55)

Our question:  Does this verse saying Cause thee to die a natural death?

”I said nothing to them except that which Thou didst command me-worship Allah, my Lord, and your Lord. And I was a witness over them as long as I remained among them, but since Thou didst cause me to die. Thus, hast been the Watcher over them, and Thou art Witness over all things.”  Qur’an (5:177)

Cause me to die?

Let us have a look other verse to see are this verse really talking about Jesus’ peace be upon him is died, I will repeat to quote the verse above again from authentic translation which approved by Muslims before i show some verse which are prove that these two ayahs were not speaking of Jesus’s death.

Allah Exalted He said

Qur’an (3:55)

”Ith qala Allahu yaAeeSa innee mutawaffeeka warafiuka ilayya wamutahhirukamina allatheena kafaroo wajaAilu allatheenattabaoka fawqa allatheena kafaroo ila yawmilqiyamati thumma ilayya marjiukum faahkumubaynakum feema kuntum feehi takhtalifoon.3:55

Sahih International:

[Mention] when Allah said, ”O Jesus, indeed I will take you and raise you to Myself and purify you from those who disbelieve and make those who follow you [in submission to Allah alone] superior to those who disbelieve until the Day of Resurrection. Then to Me is your return, and I will judge between you concerning that in which you used to differ. Qur’an (3:55)

Yusuf Ali:

”Behold! Allah said:” O Jesus! I will take thee and raise thee to Myself and clear thee [of the falsehoods] of those who blaspheme; I will make those who follow thee superior to those who reject faith, to the Day of Resurrection: Then shall ye all return unto me, and I will judge between you of the matters wherein ye dispute. Qur’an (3:55)

(And remember) when Allah said: O Jesus! Lo! I am gathering thee and causing thee to ascend unto Me and am cleansing thee of those who disbelieve and am setting those who follow thee above those who disbelieve until the Day of Resurrection. Then unto Me ye will (all) return, and I shall judge between you as to that wherein ye used to differ. Quran (3:55)

Dr. Ghali:

”As Allah said,” O Isa, (Jesus) surely, I am taking you up to Me, and I am raising you up to Me, and I am purifying you of the ones who have disbelieved. And I am making the ones who have closely followed you above the ones who have disbelieved until the Day of the Resurrection. Thereafter to Me will be your return, so I will judge between you as to whatever you used to differ in.  Qur’an (3:55)

the arabic word used is ”mutawaffeeka/متوفيك  which means ”causing you”

Qur’an (5:117)

ماقلت لهم إلا مآ أمرتنى به أن اعبدوا الله ربى وربكم وكنت عليحم شحيدا مادمت فيحم فلما توفيتنى كنت أنت الرقيب عليحم وأنت على كل شىء شهيد

Ma qultu lahum illa maamartanee bihi ani’abudoo Allah rabbee warabbakum wakuntu alayhim shaheedan ma dumtu feehim falamma tawaffaytanee kuntua anta arraqeeba alayhim waanta ala kulli shay-in shaheed.

Sahih international:

”I said not to them except what You commanded me-to worship Allah,my Lord and your Lord. And I was a witness over them as long as I was among them;but when You took me up,You were the Observe over them, and You are over all things.  Qur’an (5:117)

Muhsin Khan:

”Never did I say to them aught except what You (Allah) did command me to say: ”Worship Allah, my Lord and your Lord. ‘And I was a witness over them while I dwelt amongst them, but when You took me up, You were the Watcher over them, and You are a Witness to all things. (This is a great admonition and warning to the Christians of the whole world.) Qur’an (5:117)

”I spake unto them only that which Thou commmandedest me,(saying): Worship Allah, my Lord and your Lord. I was a witness of them while I dwelt among them, and when Thou tookest me Thou wast the Watcher over them. Thou art Witness over all things. Qur’an (5:117)

Yusuf Ali:

”Never said I to them aught except what Thou didst command me to say, to wit, ‘worship Allah, my Lord and your Lord’; and I was a witness over them whilst I dwelt amongst them; when Thou didst take me up Thou wast the Watcher over them, and Thou art a witness to all things. Qur’an (5:117)

Dr. Ghali:

”In no way did I say to them (anything) except whatever You commanded me (saying), ”Worship Allah, my Lord, and your Lord. ‘And I was a witness over them, as long as I was among them; then as soon as You took me up, You, Ever You, have been The Watcher over them, and You are Ever- Witnessing over everything. Qur’an (5:117)

The arabic word used was ”tawaffaytanee/توفيتنى

wafa or waffa/وفى which mean (verb-honor, pay, honour)

the word ”tawaffa/توفى which mean died

verb-pop off, snuff out

waffat/وفاة which means ”death”

noun-death, dying, demise, expiration

however, this word waffat does not used in those verse above

Tawaffa/توفى from the root word ”Waffa/وفى ” which mean”honor, pay, honour or ”to give someone his due in full.

let someone have his full share, pay someone in full, to treat exhaustively, write or speak fully about, set forth or develop in detail, fulfillment, keeping, honoring, carrying out, living up to, redemption, making good, standing by, carrying out.”

(AleMawrid, Arabic -English, page.1240)

Tawaffa/توفى means ”The act of ”taking the self-back”(either in sleep or in death as seen in Holy Qur’an verse 6:60

and as we see in Al-Mawrid Arabic English, page,391: To take (receive, get, obtain) one’s due or one’s share in full.

mutawaffeeka/متوفيك -causing you

cause-definition ‘verb-to be cause of; bring about

noun:1. a reason for an action or condition

2. Something that brings about an effect or a result

bring about-transitive verb- definition’ ‘to cause to take place: effect, produce

took the past tense of take

n.v.t.- to bring about a change in th condition of:

to receive as a payment or charge, to get or obtain from a source.

Let me give other verse from the Holy Qur’an which cleat that this words”tawaffa” does not used for death

Allah Exalted He says in verse Quran (6:60)

وهو الذى يتوفىكم باليل ويعلم ما جرحتم بالنحار ثم يبعثكم فيه ليقضى أجل مسمى ثم إليه مرجعكم ثم تنبئكم بما كنتم تعملون

”Wahuwa allathee yatawaffakum billayli wayaAalamu ma jarahtum binnahari thumma yab’Aathukum feehi liyuqdha ajalun musamma thumma ilayhi marji’ukum thumma yunabbi-okum bima kuntum ta’Amaloon.6:60

Sahih international:

”And it is He who takes your souls by night and knows what you have committed by day. Then He revives you therein that a specified term may be fulfilled. Then to Him will be your return, then He will inform you about what you used to do. Qur’an (6:60)

Muhsin Khan:

”It is He, who takes your souls by night (when you are asleep), and has knowledge of all that you have done by day, then he raise (wakes) you up again that a term appointed (your life period) be fulfilled, the in the end unto Him will be your return. Then He will inform you what you used to do. Qur’an (6:60)

”He it is Who gathereth you at night and knoweth that which ye commit by day. Then He raiseth you again to life therein, that the term appointed (for you) may be accomplished. And afterward unto Him is your return. Then He will proclaim unto you what ye used to do. Qur’an (6:60)

Yusuf Ali:

”It is He who doth take your souls by night, and hath knowledge of all that ye have done by day: by dat doth He raise you up again;that a term appointed be fulfilled; In the end unto Him will be your return; then will He sho you the truth of all that ye did. Qur’an (6:60)

Dr. Ghali

”And He is (The One) Who takes you up by night, and He knows whatever you indulge in by daytime; thereafter He makes you rise again therein that a stated term may be decreed; thereafter to Him will be your return; thereafter He will fully inform you of whatever you were doing.” Qur’an (6:60)

Yatawaffakum/يتوفىكم which means ”Take you up”

billayli/باليل which mean ”by night”

wataffakum billayli/يتوفىكم باليل/takes you up by night (i.e., in sleep)

Sleep is a taste of death during the time of sleeping our souls return to their source back to Allah Exalted He which means ”our sould ascend to Allah durith sleep,at the time of sleepin our soul escapes from our body and return to its Creator/Maker. It means during the time sleeping we are dead because our souls taking up to Allah subhanahu wata’ala

noun: A state of inactivity resembling or suggesting sleep; unconsciousness, hibernation, or DEATH

vb-sleeps, sleeping, slept-(intr) poetic or euphemistic to be DEAD

sleep-noun” the repose of DEATH

n.v.i.-to lie in DEATH

conclusion: As we seen in all verse above that there is no such claimed that Jesus’ peace be upon him were dead, as the arabic word Tawffa is not used for death as natural death but rather it is in a state of ”sleep” as Allah takes the souls of any person who was in a state of sleeping.

Allah knows Best.
