Responding to many Christian and Non-Muslims Missionaries. Is “Yawning from Satan”?

The particluar Hadiths are
Bukhari: Book 4: Volume 54: Hadith 509
“Narrated Abu Huraira: The Prophet said, “Yawning is from Satan and if anyone of you yawns, he should check his yawning as much as possible, for if anyone of you (during the act of yawning) should say: ‘Ha’, Satan will laugh at him.”

Muslim: Book 42: Hadith 7130
“The son of Abu Said al-Khudri reported on the authority of his father that Allah’s Messenger (may peace be upon him) said: When one of you yawns, he should keep his mouth shut with the help of his hand, for it is the devil that enters therein.”

So Non-Muslims refer to Muslims with this hadith stating that yawning is from Satan, but is every yawning from Satan?. Every Yawning is not from Satan. The yawning come between the prayers are considered at from Satan particularly a act from Satan. The below hadith confirms which yawning is from Satan

Hadith – Mishkat, Narrated AbuHurayrah , transmitted by Tirmidhi and Ibn Majah.
” Allah’s Messenger said, Yawning in prayer is an act of Shaytan=Satan, so when one of you yawns he should restrain it as much as possible. In another version it the word are: He should place his hand upon his mouth.

From the above source it is confirmed that the yawning during the prayers are from Satan. Where as physical yawn is not from Satan.

There are many other hadith regards to this topic:

Abu Hurayrah reported that the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “Yawning is from Shaytaan, so if any of you feels the urge to yawn, let him resist it as much as he can.” (Muslim, 2994)

Abu Hurayrah reported that the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “Sneezing is from Allaah and yawning is from Shaytaan=Satan. If any of you yawns, let him place his hand over his mouth. If he says ‘Ah, ah!’ (makes a noise when yawning), Shaytaan=Satan laughs from inside him.” Abu ‘Eesaa said: this is a saheeh hasan hadeeth. (Sunan al-Tirmidhi, no. 2746; classified as hasan by al-Albaani in Saheeh al-Jaami’, 4130)

According to another report also narrated by Imaam Ahmad, Shaytaan enters when a person yawns. (Saheeh al-Jaami’, 426)

From the reports quoted above, we may summarize the following:

1. That Shaytaan=Satan prompts the human to yawn, which is indicative of laziness and sluggishness. (So he might not concentrate on prayers)
2. That Shaytaan=Satan enters the person who yawns. (Explanation Below)
3. That Shaytaan=Satan laughs at man and makes fun of his ugly appearance when he is in that state.

The person who is praying must take care of the following:

1. He should resist yawning.
2. He should cover his mouth
3. He should suppress his voice (not make a sound).

What Does “Shaitan=Satan enters/falls in man mouth means”?

With regard to the phrase in the report by Muslim, “the Shaytaan enters” it may be that what is meant is entering in a real sense, because although the Shaytaan flows through man like his blood, he cannot gain any control over him so long as he remembers Allah, but when a person is yawning he is not remembering Allah, so the Shaytaan is able to enter him in a real sense. Or it may be that what is meant by entering is gaining control over him, because the one who enters a thing is able to gain control of it.

As for why Satan enters the body of a Muslim, it is to cause doubts in his heart and mind, to distract him from remembering Allah and to distract him during prayer:

The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) has warned us against some of these things. “The Shaytaan comes to any one of you and says, ‘Who created such and such? Who created such and such?’ until he says, â€˜Who created your Lord?’ If that happens to you, seek refuge with Allah and give up these thoughts.” Narrated by al-Bukhari, no. 3277

As Muslims, we should not be afraid of these thoughts because these thoughts are CLEAR signs of faith:
The companions of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) came to him complaining about the doubts and waswaas (Whispers) that they were suffering. In Saheeh Muslim it is narrated that Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) said:

“Some of the companions of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) came to him and said, ‘We find in our hearts things that none of us dares utter.’ He said, ‘Do you really find that?’ They said, ‘Yes.’ He said, ‘That is clear faith.” (2/153).

Science confirms yawning lead to sexual intercourse, relaxation, etc:

“…And while yawning is commonly associated with relaxation and drowsiness, your heart rate can rise as much as 30 percent during a yawn, and yawning is a sign of arousal, including sexual arousal..

I mentioned above that during the prayers Satan seeks to cause us to relaxation, tiredness and boredom (as to deviate from our prayers) This is also confirmed by Science that the most common and accepted explanation for yawning is that it comes about as a result (Feeling) of tiredness or boredom.

Hypocrisy of Christian Missionaries:

I find it quite funny that the Christians object to these things, it would make some sense if an atheist complained, because he doesn’t believe in Satan in the first place, but a Christian?

Yawning during taking out the Holy Cross:

“Polydore Vergil (c. 1470–1555), in his De Rerum Inventoribus, writes that it was customary to make the sign of the cross over one’s mouth, since “alike deadly plague was sometime in yawning, wherefore men used to fence themselves with the sign of the cross…which custom we retain at this day.”
Source: Erasmus Chil. III, cent. iv, No 95 (1508) quoted in Stevenson, Burton ed.The Macmillan Book of Proverbs,

Christians need to understand the meaning of “Metaphor” and “Parable” or “Symbolic”, what if I took this biblical verse LITERALLY:

If I am under Christian god’s wrath I will fall into a adulteress mouth?

Proverbs 22:14 “The mouth of an adulteress is a deep pit; he who is under the LORD’s wrath will fall into it.”
So if I am under the wrath of God, I will fall into a mouth of an adulteress?

Wait, someone say “This is completely different” THINK about it, if we yawn and Shaytan falls into our mouth, what makes this Biblical verse not literal when it SAYS THE EXACT SAME THING (If God is angry at you, you fall into a mouth of an adulteress)
